Practical advice for the immediate and intermediate zones.

Why is it important to remove combustible materials within 10 metres of the home to reduce fire risk?

When a home is located in or near a forested area, the risk of a wildfire spreading to the residence is a serious concern.

Between the forest and the home or cottage, combustible materials such as firewood, logs, dead leaves, and tree branches can act as fuel sources, allowing a fire to spread toward the building.

By removing combustible materials within a 10-metre radius of the home, the risk of a wildfire reaching the residence, cottage, garage, or shed is significantly reduced.
