12 actions to protect your home
Why is it important to remove combustible materials within 1.5 metres of the home to reduce fire risk?

Combustible materials such as dead leaves, branches, dry grass, and stacked firewood can easily catch fire and spread quickly if they come into contact with an ignition source, such as a spark or flame.
A buffer zone of at least 1.5 metres should be maintained around the house and any attached structures, such as a deck. This area should be made as fire-resistant as possible, free of materials or vegetation that could ignite easily if a wildfire passes through. Instead of mulch, it is recommended to use gravel or stone landscaping in this zone.
