12 actions to protect your home
Why is it important to choose the right exterior cladding materials to reduce fire risk?

To reduce the risk of a wildfire spreading and threatening homes, it is recommended to prune trees near the residence or cottage up to a height of two metres from the ground.
For this measure to be effective, all trees within a 30-metre radius of buildings located in or near forested areas should be pruned.
This precaution helps prevent a surface fire from intensifying and reaching the treetops. Fires that climb into the canopy are more intense and spread more easily.
Pruning lower branches significantly reduces the risk of fire reaching buildings by limiting the fire’s ability to spread.
