12 actions to protect your home
Why is it important to space trees near the home to reduce fire risk?

When trees surrounding a home are too close together, they can facilitate the spread of a wildfire toward the residence or cottage.
Lower branches, leaves, or needles can ignite as a fire passes through, creating a pathway for the flames to reach the home more easily.
Within a 10-metre radius of a home located in or near a forested area, it is recommended to maintain a minimum of three metres of spacing between tree canopies to help prevent the spread of wildfire to the home.
