The ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs has decided to lift the ban on open fires in or in the vicinity of a forest. This decision, taken in collaboration with the Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU), therefore results in the complete lift of the ban starting on July 6, 12 p.m. This measure was in effect since July 3.
Currently 3 fires are being fought in the intensive protection zone, and firefighting operations are proceeding normally. Since the start of the protection season, 425 forest fires have affected 7673,8 hectares. The average for the last 10 years at this time of the year is 275 fires for an area of 16 531,5 hectares.
